The 1/10 scale Losi Baja Rey 4WD desert truck remains one of a kind, the only RC vehicle platform of its size with a true-scale suspension and chassis setup. The closer you look, the more details you find. When you see it in action, it's easy to imagine living out your own wildest desert racing dreams.
Losi first released the Baja Rey in 2016. It quickly earned raves for incredible handling, speed, and overall performance. An updated Baja Rey body style was introduced a few years later, but the platform itself proved so successful that it was unchanged — until now. For 2023, the Baja Rey not only gets another body update but also significant design improvements underneath. The Baja Rey 2.0 is an even better Baja beast, performing like a champion on all types of desert terrain from trails to sand washes.
Like the previous version, the foundation of the Baja Rey 2.0 remains its strong 3mm aluminum chassis plate with a 2.5mm upper deck. Whether you're hitting the whoops, getting huge air, or just running wide open, the chassis keeps asking for more. From there, the platform now goes to the next level with updated front gear box and rear axle designs, improved upper front arms and 4-link bars, an additional dampening shock, and more. Together, the changes mean easier maintenance, more tuning ability, and even greater strength and durability in critical areas.
As always, Losi has worked closely with Baja's best brands to bring you the most scale RC desert truck possible. Take the updated, officially licensed 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R body, for example. The Method Ford Raptor Baja Rey 2.0 captures the full-size truck's aggressive styling with molded details that include the front grille, hood vent, fire extinguishers, driver helmets, interior, and more. The officially licensed BFGoodrich KR3 tires are mounted on officially licensed Method 101 wheels. And the dual spare tires are fully functional!
With LED lighting that includes a seven light pod system, Raptor grille lights, and a rear red LED light strip, the Losi Method Ford Raptor Baja Rey 2.0 wants to keep playing even after the desert sun sets. You can get started almost immediately, because it's ready-to-run with a feature-packed Spektrum Smart DX3 radio system and brushless power system that can handle 2S or 3S LiPo batteries (not included) — for the power to fly across the desert at speeds of up to 50+ mph!
Losi works with Baja's best brands to bring you the most scale RC desert trucks possible. The Method Ford Raptor Baja Rey 2.0 captures the updated 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R's aggressive body styling in the front grille, hood vent, fire extinguishers, driver helmets, jack, mirrors, interior, and other molded details.
Light, fast, and strong, the Method 101 Race Wheels defined the Method brand. The Losi Method Ford Raptor Baja Rey 2.0 desert truck's officially licensed wheels are designed after this legendary beadlock wheel that started it all.
Like the original BFGoodrich tires that were tested and proven by race winning drivers in the deserts of Baja California, Mexico, and southwestern USA, these officially licensed tires have the same aggressive KR3 tread pattern and are ready for anything that the desert can throw at them.
These dual spare tires not only complete the desert truck look but are also fully functional. They're ready in case you ever need them after running through extreme conditions.
The Method Ford Raptor Baja Rey 2.0 is ready to play even after the desert sun sets, thanks to its realistic and functional lighting system. It features a seven light pod system, Raptor grille lights, and a rear red LED light strip.
The Baja Rey 2.0 platform improves on the previous version with an updated front gearbox design that makes maintenance and tuning much easier. The front fluid-filled differential can now be taken out without removing the front suspension.
The new Baja Rey 2.0 rear axle uses the same differential as the front, permitting dogbones and stub axles to be used that allow rear toe tuning. Three degree toe is installed. Zero degree optional rear toe blocks that increase traction are also included.
These upper 4-link bars on the improved Baja Rey 2.0 platform are stronger than those of the previous version, adding more durability to the pivot ball area.
The upper front arms of the Baja Rey 2.0 have been completely redesigned. They now accept a secondary dampening shock and are also strengthened in critical areas for greater durability.
The improved steering servo saver of the Baja Rey 2.0 not only increases durability and servo protection, but also improves the consistency of steering performance.
Long travel shocks soak up the energy from big bumps and jumps, while external bump stops provide plush landings on the hardest surfaces. Threaded shock bodies with adjustment collars let you fine-tune the pre-load setting of the coil-over springs. Improved to the Baja Rey 2.0 is an additional dampening shock, for improved handling and looks that match the real desert racing trucks.
The scale independent A-arm front suspension and solid 4-link rear suspension allow the Baja Rey 2.0 to soak up massive whoops and bumps with the same realistic handling and movement of a full-scale desert truck. You get better control and a more locked-in feel regardless of the terrain.
When its body panels come off, the Method Ford Raptor Baja Rey 2.0 still impresses with its race-inspired, molded full roll cage.
Losi doesn't make you choose between convenience and scale detail. In addition to scale realism, the Baja Rey 2.0 has a rear-loading battery and bottom-loaded motor for easy maintenance and battery swaps.
The foundation of the Baja Rey consists of a 3mm aluminum chassis plate with a 2.5mm upper deck. Whether you're hitting the whoops, getting huge air, or just running wide open, the chassis keeps asking for more!
Just like modern desert trucks, the Baja Rey 2.0 features 4-wheel drive for the best traction over all of the different terrain types that the desert can throw at you.
The single-speed transmission, as well as the front and center diffs, are sealed against the elements and engineered to handle the abuse of a high-output brushless motor and punishing terrain. MOD 1 gears further increase the durability of this desert beast. The adjustability of three diffs allows drivers to set their Baja Rey 2.0 to handle any track conditions.
The Baja Rey 2.0 platform's gear boxes have been improved with larger 5x11 front bearings and 5x13 rear bearings to better support the pinions.
When you're ready to send it, don't hold back! The receiver's built-in AVC (Active Vehicle Control) system provides automatic traction control with hundreds of tiny throttle and steering adjustments per second. More motor power goes toward ballistic speed instead of just flinging dirt. The DX3 transmitter's AVC adjustment knob lets you decide how much traction control the system provides. You can even turn it off.
Install a Spektrum Smart battery in your Baja Rey 2.0 and the DX3 Smart transmitter will indicate its power level as you race. Add optional Spektrum Smart accessories to see real-time telemetry data on your smart phone or on transmitters with built-in displays.
The Spektrum DX3 radio's advanced features include a 3-position throttle limiting switch that lets you select from 50%, 75%, or 100% power availability. When you add the BT2000 Bluetooth Module (sold separately) and download the free Spektrum Dashboard app, you can use its Smart ESC compatibility to receive real-time telemetry data, set up warning alarms, and enjoy more programming options.
The Baja Rey 2.0 comes equipped with a Spektrum 3800Kv brushless motor and a waterproof 130A ESC. This potent combination can handle 2S or 3S LiPo batteries (sold separately) and give you the power to hurtle across the desert at speeds of up to 50+ mph.
The included Spektrum S614S servo has internal metal gears for extreme durability. Its 15kg of torque lets you maneuver through demanding desert terrain with confidence.
